Topo’s LinkedIn integration lets you include LinkedIn touchpoints — connection invitations, direct messages, and Sales Navigator InMail — directly inside your outreach sequences, alongside email steps. When a prospect is active on LinkedIn, reaching them there increases your chances of a response without requiring you to leave Topo to send messages manually.

Connect your LinkedIn account

1

Open Senders settings

Go to Settings → Senders, then click Add LinkedIn Account.
2

Sign in to LinkedIn through Topo

A LinkedIn login window will open. Enter your LinkedIn credentials. Topo uses your session to act on your behalf — it does not store your password.
3

Confirm the connection

Once signed in, your LinkedIn account appears in the Senders list with a Connected status. You can now add LinkedIn steps to sequence templates and assign this account as a sender.
Only connect a LinkedIn account you actively use and that has a history of genuine activity. New or low-activity accounts are more likely to be flagged by LinkedIn’s automated systems. Avoid connecting multiple accounts from the same browser session.

LinkedIn step types in sequences

When building a sequence template, you can add LinkedIn steps alongside email steps. Topo supports three types of LinkedIn actions:

Connection Invite

Send a connection request to a prospect. You can include a short personalized note (up to 300 characters) or send it without a note. Topo can personalize the note using your AI variables.

Direct Message

Send a LinkedIn direct message to a first-degree connection. This step only executes if you’re already connected with the prospect — Topo will wait or skip based on your template’s configuration.

Sales Navigator InMail

Send an InMail to any prospect, even if you’re not connected. Requires a Sales Navigator account linked to the same LinkedIn profile.
When a sequence includes a connection invite step followed by a message step, Topo automatically waits for the invite to be accepted before sending the message. You don’t need to configure this manually.

Rate limits

LinkedIn enforces limits on how many connection requests and messages you can send per day and per week. Topo respects these limits automatically — it paces outbound LinkedIn actions so your account stays within safe thresholds, even across multiple active sequences. You do not need to configure rate limits manually. If your account is approaching LinkedIn’s ceiling for the day, Topo queues pending LinkedIn steps and resumes the next day.
LinkedIn’s connection invite limit is around 100–200 per week for standard accounts, and varies based on account age and activity. Topo stays well within these bounds by default, but if you’re running large campaigns, spreading volume across multiple LinkedIn senders helps.

LinkedIn signals

Topo can surface LinkedIn activity as buying signals — indicators that a prospect may be paying attention to you or your company. When LinkedIn signals are enabled, Topo tracks:
  • Profile views — when a prospect visits your LinkedIn profile after receiving outreach.
  • Post engagement — when a prospect interacts with your posts or company page content.
These signals appear in the prospect’s activity timeline in Topo and can trigger hot lead status when combined with other engagement (email opens, replies, etc.).
LinkedIn signal tracking requires that your LinkedIn account has the relevant visibility settings enabled. Profile view signals depend on your account not being set to “private mode” when browsing.

Reconnecting your LinkedIn account

LinkedIn sessions expire periodically, especially if you log in from a different device or browser, or if LinkedIn detects unusual activity. When your account disconnects, Topo will pause any LinkedIn steps in active sequences and notify you. To reconnect:
1

Go to Senders settings

Navigate to Settings → Senders. Your LinkedIn account will show a Disconnected or Reconnect needed status.
2

Click Reconnect

Click Reconnect next to the account. The LinkedIn login window will open again.
3

Sign in again

Enter your LinkedIn credentials. Once the session is restored, Topo resumes queued steps automatically.
Steps that were due while your account was disconnected are not skipped — they’re queued and will execute once the account is reconnected, subject to your sending schedule and rate limits.

Safety tips

LinkedIn monitors account behavior for automation patterns. Following these practices protects your account:
Even though Topo paces actions within LinkedIn’s limits, running multiple high-volume campaigns simultaneously can push your daily totals high. As a rule of thumb, aim for no more than 20–30 connection invites per day if your account is under six months old, and no more than 50–80 per day for established accounts.
LinkedIn’s systems look for repetitive or template-looking messages. Use Topo’s AI personalization features to vary your messages — even small variations in phrasing make a meaningful difference.
Logging in to the same LinkedIn account from different IP addresses in a short time window (for example, Topo’s servers and your own browser at the same time) can trigger LinkedIn’s security checks. Use one active session at a time.
LinkedIn occasionally asks users to verify their identity or confirm activity via email or phone. If you receive such a request, complete it promptly. Ignoring these prompts can result in temporary account restrictions.
A high rate of declined connection invites signals to LinkedIn that your outreach may be unwanted. Make sure your lead lists are well-targeted to reduce the likelihood of prospects marking your invites as spam.
